The Green Cities team wishes all of you, and all of our parks and natural areas, a happy, healthy and beautiful 2010. This past year was great: from Seattle to Tacoma to Kirkland to Redmond we collectively donated over 87,000 hours of our very valuable time restoring and maintaining the urban environment by removing aggressive invasive species and planting native trees, shrubs, and groundcover. We helped ensure that green ecosystem services like stormwater retention, air and water filtration, and carbon sequestration remain in tact, and that wildlife habitat and natural spaces for urban recreation remain available for all. And we did it all together to engage in our communities and to do something active and positive for ourselves and the cities we live in. We even added a new city to our program: welcome Kent to the Green Cities family! We never could have done it without everyone’s help. Thank you for all of your hard work in 2009, we can’t wait to get going on the new year!
Here are our new year’s resolutions (feel free to use them yourself!):
Get outside more
Spend time with people we care about
Volunteer with worthy projects
Meet new neighbors
Do something good for the environment
Give back to our neighborhoods
