It’s NeighborWoods Month!

October is the Alliance for Community Trees’ annual community service campaign, which in October 2009 resulted in over 700 volunteer events delivered by local partners in 231 cities across the country. Campaign partners planted 36,000 trees, engaged 24,000 volunteers, and educated the public about sustainability through education and media outreach.

Of course it’s always neighborwoods month in the Green Cities Network, but this month, as we look towards a new planting season with events all over the region, we’re extra excited to be joining a movement across the country taking care of community forests and street trees. Many Green Cities events are posted on the national NeighborWoods calendar, and we encourage everyone to post your events if you don’t see them up there. You can apply for some free event materials when you post your event, submit photos to their photo contest, and see what everyone else is up to this month.
